Christmas phone call.

Merry Christmas to all. Today we called Neica on the phone to talk with her. I was not as crazy and loud as last week when she would not talk with us. She got on the Phone and with her sweet voice said hello!! We got to tell her that we loved her and she replied with a I Love You!! It was surreal for me to hear her talk back and tell us that she loved us. We asked her if mommy could bring her more food and a dress and she replied with a yes in English. Her English is better then I thought it was. She is a very smart little girl. Zadie and Grey were excited to her that she talked back to us. Emily leaves in 8 days to go serve in Haiti and see Neica!! She is excited and would love your prayers for bonding with Neica. All praise and glory to God!

The Journey Has Begun.

I have been back from Haiti for 36 hours and my mind and heart are still in the mountain community of Camatin. On Friday December 9th 2011 I was able to ask Neica if she would like to come to the US and become part of our family. My heart was beating out of my chest and my hands where shaking as Ricot was talking to her. Then I looked her in the eyes and asked her if she would like to become part of our family. Ricot translated to her and she paused for a second and with her soft voice she said wi (yes)! My heart was filled with joy as tears started to well up as I heard her say yes. I gave her a photo album with pictures of our family and Ricot explained to her who was in the pictures. She had a smile on her face and she left the room with me. She came into my room and I gave some clothes I had brought for her. She is a very shy girl that likes to observe the situation before diving right in. She left the room and as I went to find her I found her in her room showing the pictures to the other girls. They all had smiles on their faces as they asked me if I was Neica’s Poppi. I answered with a proud yes!! And so the journey has now officially begun and I put all my trust in God! The next four days where hard on me as she is slowly opening up. I pray that God will open her heart to be able to accept the love from me and my family. God saved me and I am humbled I was chosen by him to love this little girl.
